It was an encouraging start by the Tigers, but a big second half fadeout left them well short of victory pver Collingwood on Saturday afternoon.

Noah Roberts-Thomson got Richmond off to a great start, converting a set shot less than three minutes into the game. The Magpies managed to respond through crafty forward Mitch Podhajski.

Minutes later, the Tigers kept the ball in motion inside-50, before captain Lachlan Street roosted one home from 45, igniting his side. Collingwood had its chances though to hit the front late in the term, but inaccuracy cost them the lead as Richmond took a five-point advantage into quarter-time.

Tyan Prindable made it two in a row for Collingwood, but Samson Ryan made sure the Tigers got the next, taking a nice contested mark and kicking truly.

Two late Collingwood goal got them ahead by 13 points at half-time, looking particularly dangerous with their handball chains through the middle of the ground.

There were ominous warning signs early in the second half for the Tigers, as Collingwood quickly got the lead out to a game-high 25-point margin.

Soon Richmond's deficit blew out to 38 points, as the Pies exploited Richmond with forward handball through the middle of the ground. The Tigers worked hard to peg back the margin but failed to make inroads, trailing by 33 points at the final break.

It was a strong finish from Collingwood as they put the game to bed early in the last quarter and powered home, kicking eight last-quarter goals to the Tigers three, winning by 70 points.

Richmond will be searching for answers during the week before taking on Carlton VFL at Ikon Park next Saturday afternoon.
