Richmond’s joint major partner, nib health funds (nib), has strengthened its ties with the Club by expanding their partnership to support the Club’s inaugural AFLW team and the Richmond Women’s Football Program.
In line with Richmond’s AFL jumper, nib’s logo will appear on the back of the Tigers’ historic inaugural AFLW guernsey in 2020. nib will also partner with the Club to deliver a digital content strategy to promote the Club’s entry into the AFLW.
The Women’s Football Program is in the formative stages but there is a high level of excitement around women’s football at all levels, from grassroots through to the elite level.
The Club recognises the importance of creating a culture and environment that provides both males and females the best opportunity to thrive and win. The support nib are providing will allow the Club to fast track the Club’s Women’s Football Program through pathways, talent development, facilities and supporting programs.
Richmond CEO, Brendon Gale, said that he is delighted that nib will be a part of the Tigers’ exciting step into AFLW.
“nib is a trusted and dynamic brand that for two seasons now has fittingly been part of our proud jumper,” he said.
“Stepping into women’s football has been an exciting journey for our Club and it is fantastic that our valued partner, nib will have prominent representation in our inaugural AFLW season.
“We’re also looking forward to nib helping to bring our Women’s Football Program to life, by supporting the delivery of engaging digital content,” he added.
nib Group Executive, Rhod McKensey said the partnership extension is an exciting addition to nib’s brand sponsorship portfolio.
“We believe in diversity and are genuine in our commitment to partner with female sport, from grassroots through to the elite level,” Mr McKensey said.
“It’s more than just a logo on apparel, it’s about funding key programs such as resources at the Club to help grow female grassroots programs and creating content that celebrates aspirational role models,” he added.
The partnership will also see the delivery of diversity and engagement events for nib employees and mindfulness programs for the Richmond female athletes.
Richmond will be one of four teams to join the AFLW competition in 2020, taking the competition to 14 teams in total.
