Trent Cotchin celebrates his first goal of the season in Saturday's loss to Adelaide.

Veteran Richmond star midfielder Trent Cotchin was at his warrior-like best in yesterday’s encounter with Adelaide at Adelaide Oval.

The triple Tiger premiership captain constantly put his body on the line in trademark style, desperately trying to lift the team right throughout the contest.

Cotchin finished the match with 24 disposals, 13 contested possessions, nine clearances, four inside-50s, five marks and 351 metres gained.

Richmond coach Damien Hardwick paid tribute to him during his post-game press conference.

“The ground probably plays to Trent. It’s a high contest, high pressure ground,” Hardwick said.

“It’s a little bit smaller than most of the venues, so it lends itself to that sort of game, which is Trent’s game.

“I thought he had a really strong game tonight in and around the contest, but also did some really good offensive decision-making for us.”
