Liam Baker’s top-class display across Richmond’s backline in last Saturday night’s Dreamtime at the ‘G victory over Essendon has earned him the most votes for the match in the 2022 AFL Coaches’ Association’s Champion Player of the Year Round 10 voting.

Baker was awarded nine votes from respective coaches Damien Hardwick (Richmond) and Ben Rutten (Essendon) for the significant impact he had in the Tigers’ 32-point win.

The dual premiership Tiger finished the match with 30 disposals, nine contested possessions, five marks, an equal team-high six tackles, nine intercepts, eight score involvements and 475 metres gained.

Star Richmond midfielder Dion Prestia picked up eight votes following his superb showing on the night – a team-high 36 disposals, 12 contested possessions, five marks, five inside-50s. an equal team-high six rebound-50s, six clearances, six intercepts, two goal assists, eight score involvements and 503 metres gained.

Tigers co-captain Toby Nankervis received seven votes for another inspirational performance – 19 disposals, a team-high 14 contested possessions, five marks, equal team-high nine intercepts, 20 hit-outs and seven one-percenters.

Rounding out Richmond’s Round 9 vote-getters in the prestigious coaches’ award were Jack Riewoldt and Jayden Short with two votes apiece.
