If veteran Richmond star key forward Tom Lynch’s performance against West Coast at the MCG last Saturday is any indication, then he still has a fair bit of good football left in him.

For the first time in four years, and only the second occasion throughout his 117-game playing career with the Tigers, Lynch racked up 20 disposals in a match.

You have to go back to Round 8 of the 2022 season against Collingwood at the MCG for the other time at Tigerland that Lynch had 20 disposals or more in a game.

On that day, Lynch had 25 disposals and kicked six goals in a dominant display.

Last Sunday, the 33-year-old dual Richmond premiership hero finished the match with those 20 disposals, nine contested possessions, five marks, two goals (2.4), an equal game-high 10 score involvements and 298 metres gained.

Had Lynch maximised his opportunities in front of goal, it would have been a performance to nearly match the one he produced in that 2022 clash with the Magpies.

But it still was a strong showing that would have boosted Lynch’s confidence following a frustrating injury run this season, which has restricted him to 12 out of a possible 20 games.

In his 12 games, Lynch has kicked 16 goals, placing him second on the Club’s goalkicking list, behind Mykelti Lefau on 18 goals.
