Richmond is encouraging the loyal Tiger Army to dig deep for the Club's long-term preferred charity partner, the Alannah & Madeline Foundation, as part of the Foundation's annual dedicated fixture next Thursday.

With a return to the MCG and a marquee clash against traditional rivals Carlton, the Club and Foundation aim to raise $65,000 from the match to help keep children safe from violence.

All match donations, Alannah & Madeline Foundation memberships and merchandise will all play a role in fundraising for the game.

Richmond CEO Brendon Gale congratulated the Foundation for 25-years as a charity while endorsing the long-term partnership.

"The way the Tiger Army has embraced the Foundation to raise more than $1.4million across the journey has been heart-warming, and we look forward to seeing our fans back at the MCG as part of the dedicated fixture on Thursday.

"This week as we lead into our match, I encourage all our members and supporters to learn a little bit about our charity partner and their work to ensure children can live a life free of violence and trauma.

"It is the unconditional truth that children deserve a childhood free from violence."

Alannah & Madeline Foundation CEO Sarah Davies said that the Foundation's best-known symbol of support for vulnerable children is its Buddy Bags.

"These are backpacks thoughtfully packed for vulnerable children across Australia experiencing crisis, trauma, or doing it tough in emergency foster care," Ms Davies said.

"Each year, around 13,000 Australian children are taken into the care of child protection authorities because they are at serious risk of harm or have no other safe place to live.

"These children often arrive scared and alone, separated from parents or siblings, with nothing more than the clothes they are wearing. When they open their Buddy Bag, they see a teddy bear, followed by essentials - from a toothbrush and toothpaste to pyjamas, underwear and socks."

Almost 3240 Buddy Bags have already been distributed across the country this year, with an aim to distribute 10,000 by the year's end.

The Club's pursuit of raising $65,000 from Thursday night's match would help an extra 1300 children receive a Buddy Bag. It is adding to the more than 100,000 distributed by the Foundation since 2007.

Ms Davies added that Richmond's contribution of more than the equivalent of 28,000 Buddy Bags since 2012 had been profound.

"The club's contributions help make an enormous difference in the lives of Australian children and is a testament to an enduring and important partnership," she said.

"Over the past 25 years, the Foundation has reached 3 million children, young people, and their families through its care, prevention and advocacy programs.

"It is because of partners like the Richmond Football Club and its members, supporter base and leadership that we can create a safer world for children and provide support to those who've experienced violence or trauma to help them recover, heal and grow. We are very grateful."
