Richmond CEO Brendon Gale credited the contract extension to the Aligned Leisure Leadership Team in Cardinia Shire.

“The Aligned Leisure staff in Cardinia Shire have done an excellent job in securing this contract extension,” Mr Gale said.

“We are committed to providing further programs, services, activities and events for the Cardinia Shire community over a further three-year contract term.

“Through our football club and Aligned Leisure, we hope to have a positive impact on the local community through a diverse range of programs.

“I’d also like to thank Cardinia Shire Council for their thorough evaluation process. We look forward to continuing our work with the Council and residents of the region.”

Over the past three years, Aligned Leisure has subsidised more than $40,000 in services to families experiencing hardship, delivered Richmond Football Club’s Tiger PAW program to more than 1,500 primary school students, raised more than $33,000 for the Casey Cardinia Foundation, and given away more than 500 free tickets to AFL games for Cardinia Shire residents.

Cardinia Shire Mayor Councillor Graeme Moore commended Aligned Leisure on securing the contract extension.

“Aligned Leisure has proven itself to be an effective manager and caretaker of our major leisure facilities and through its programs and initiatives, it has demonstrated a genuine concern for the health and wellbeing of our community,” Cr Moore said.

Some of the program and service extensions planned for under the three-year contract include:

  • Cardinia Leisure Street Team, a new mobile education and activity-based service
  • Year-10 activation program, supporting students to improve their health and wellbeing
  • Water Smart Program for primary schools
