Richmond is thrilled to retain premiership pair Jack Graham and Ivan Soldo after they explored opportunities elsewhere during the trade period.

Graham has decided to remain at Punt Road, where he has a contract for 2023.

With the Tigers acquiring Greater Western Sydney guns Tim Taranto and Jacob Hopper before the deadline, they've boosted their midfield depth.

Richmond General Manager- Football Talent Blair Hartley said the club supported Graham in his decision to look at a move, before deciding to remain with the Tigers.

"Jack’s contracted with us for next year. He sees two midfielders come in and he's looking for more midfield time himself and he's well within his rights to look around,” Hartley said on Wednesday night.

"We supported him in that, but we made it clear we wanted him to stay. Like all things during this period, these discussions do take place.

"We’re rapt to have Jack back with us; he’s a Richmond man. I spoke to Jack throughout the whole thing.

"Jack at his best has shown that he can play as a midfielder, as a high work-rate, high pressure midfielder who causes turnover and gut runs both ways," Hartley said.

"There's always a position on the ground for those sorts of guys.

"The position in the midfield is up for grabs and he's got to put his best foot forward, which he's spoken about pretty openly with us."

Soldo also remained with Richmond despite undertaking a medical with Greater Western Sydney in the event he was included in the Hopper deal.

"Ivan found himself out of the team towards the back end of last year, and he turned down a really strong offer from the Western Bulldogs at the end of last year coming off an ACL," Hartley said.

"We just had a mature conversation with his manager Peter Lenton, who has been terrific through this process, that if Ivan wanted to explore his options we couldn't stand in his way.

"The longer it went on, we wanted to keep Ivan at Richmond. GWS were probably in a position to realign their cap, and that means that Ivan stays at Richmond, which we are thrilled about."
