Richmond AFLW captain Katie Brennan will on Friday night become the fourth AFLW Tiger to hit the 50-game milestone.

The 31-year-old will reach the mark when the Tigers take on Hawthorn at Cairns' Cazaly's Stadium, a fitting location for the Queenslander.

She follows Sarah Hosking, Monique Conti and Jess Hosking, who all notched their 50th games in 2022.

The competition’s equal-longest serving captain, Brennan kicked off her playing career at the Western Bulldogs back in 2017, when she was signed as a marquee player and skippered the club for its inaugural season.

A born leader with silky skills and an excellent contested marking ability, Brennan crossed over to Richmond ahead of the Club's AFLW inception in 2020, signing as its first-ever player and captain.

She star forward has a remarkable record of 58 goals from 49 games and is a two-time All-Australian from 2021 and 2022.

The much-loved Tiger said it was a "great week to reflect on the journey".

"It feels amazing to reach the 50-game milestone... It's been a number of years in the competition and it's been a great journey to be a part of, watching the whole competition grow and going through strength to strength," Brennan said.

"The people that you get to meet and the great times that you get to have.

"It's a special moment to look back on your entire journey and what got you there and the people that got you there as well."

While she said the milestone was an opportunity to reflect on her career to date, Brennan was also looking forward to what's to come.

"Particularly for our group and where we''re and the exciting times ahead," she said.

"To see how far (the AFLW) has come and how much opportunity there is for young people to play the game we love is really cool.

"It's been so much fun along the way... the people we have involved are first-class and it's just been such a pleasure to be part of.

"We've got a lot to look forward to and we're pretty bullish about where we want to go with it."

Brennan thanked her Tiger teammates for their support along the way.

"My teammates mean everything. They're your family, your closest mates, and they're lifelong mates," she said.

I feel really grateful to have these people in my life and I love watching them grow, we have a young list who are growing every week as footballers and people.

"My family has been a big part of the journey (too)... and the Club and my partner Liv as well, she's my rock.

"And the Tiger Army... the fans are incredible and we love the way they show up, get us over the line and cheer for us."

After three tough losses, Brennan said the group, who has won both of their interstate games so far this season, was excited to get back on the road for Round one 8.

"I'm excited to see what we can do in these final few games and I can't wait to get up to Cairns," she said.

"A great week to travel for us and get on the road, we're really keen to get away as a group... we travel really well.

"We'll really try and play some process-based footy and iron things out from the previous three weeks."
