Mark your calendars, Tiger Army! Saturday, February 10, will see the first-ever Richmond Festival, a vibrant celebration of community and footy ahead of the 2024 AFL Premiership Season.
The event will see Victoria Gardens Shopping Centre draped in Yellow and Black for the day, with the Richmond Festival to be packed with Richmond AFL and AFLW player appearances, activities, giveaways, a kids’ clinic and more.
Richmond Festival is free to attend and will be held on the back lawn of Victoria Gardens, and is inclusive of excitement for all ages.
Richmond CEO Brendon Gale said that Richmond Festival would allow footy fans from all over the suburb and beyond to engage as a Richmond, and broader Tiger Army, community.
“Richmond is our heartland and making a positive footprint on the community is important to us,” he said.
“We have some wonderful fans in the suburb and beyond, so we are excited to be able to support some local businesses, while giving our fans the chance to see their favourite players and have some fun.”
Stuart King, Retail Manager at Vicinity Centres, said starting a new partnership for the Richmond Festival event is exciting.
“We can’t wait to bring together the local community and share in what is going to be a day full of fun and activities,” he said.
“Victoria Gardens Shopping Centre looks forward to welcoming locals, regulars, and fans from far and wide. We have an outstanding offering from our retailers and food venues that cater to all.
“I have seen the Tiger Army from afar and what kind of atmosphere they can create together, and I imagine this festival will be reminiscent of a game from the MCG.”
Richmond Football Club will deliver the event with Vicinity Centres and Yarra City Council.
Fans are encouraged to wear their yellow and black when attending the Richmond Festival, and to also make the most of the fantastic retail and food offerings inside Victoria Gardens.
