As Richmond prepares to host West Coast this weekend at the MCG, we reflect on some memorable moments from our battles against the Eagles.
Richmond has won four of the last five meetings against West Coast, and across a longstanding rivalry, there have been some classic Tiger moments.
In Round 7, 2022, at Optus Stadium, key forward Tom Lynch kicked seven goals in the side's dominant 109-point win.
Lynch delivered one of the best performances of his career in his milestone 200th game against the Eagles, finishing the match with seven goals and five behinds to go with his eight contested marks.
Early in the first term, the two-time premiership player also celebrated his 400th career goal. Lynch went on to become the side's leading goal kicker that year, finishing the season with 60 goals to his name.
Another iconic performance came from Richmond legend Jack Riewoldt, who kicked a massive 10 goals against the Eagles in Round 12 in 2010.
The Tiger Army will forever remember the day when Jumping Jack reached the double-digit mark for goals, with five of those majors coming in the opening term.
Three of those five goals originated from contested marks on key Eagles' defender Eric Mackenzie, before they moved Will Schofield onto him in an attempt to slow down the onslaught.
Riewoldt went on to have a day out, kicking his 10th goal in front of the Tiger Army at the Punt Road end of the MCG, to become the first Richmond player to kick 10 goals in a game since the great Matthew Richardson.
The Tigers defeated the Eagles by a comfortable 49-points.
One of the Club’s great comeback wins came in a match against the Eagles, dating back to Round 7 of 1989, where the side won by two points.
Richmond was down by 20-points heading into the last quarter but clawed its way back, booting six goals to West Coast’s two in the last quarter.
