Nathan Broad produced an impressive captain’s performance for Richmond in the 2025 Dreamtime at the G’ clash.

The 32-year-old was appointed to the skipper’s role for the first time in his 159-game career with the Tigers, as a temporary replacement for Toby Nankervis, who was managed, coming off a five-day break from the Round 10 game against North Melbourne.

Broad handled the extra responsibility within the team in splendid style, finishing the match with 22 disposals, an equal team-high eight marks, three rebound-50s, six intercepts and 306 metres gained.

Richmond coach Adem Yze acclaimed Broad during his post-match press conference.

“His form across the whole night was terrific. And it was the first time he captained the Club, which is a credit to him,” Yze said.

“He’s come a long way, ‘Broady’. He’s such a good leader around our footy club and he sets the standard, on and off the track. And he’s in great form.

“So, he kept toiling away, he kept trying different things, and he kept leading really well.

“Unfortunately, we couldn’t get the win for him while he was skipper.”
