Richmond forward/midfielder Charley Ryan will miss the 2025 AFLW season after suffering an ACL knee injury at training.

Ryan was selected with Richmond’s first selection, No. 38 overall, at the 2022 AFLW Draft.

After missing her first two seasons at the Club with a previous ACL injury on the same knee and foot and illness issues, the talented youngster broke through for six senior games last year.

Richmond Head of Women’s Football, Kate Sheahan, said it was sad news for the hardworking 21-year-old.

“It is so unfortunate that Charley will again be on the sidelines for the upcoming AFLW season,” Sheahan said.

“There is a huge amount of love and respect for Charley and the way she goes about her football with her professionalism.

“We will all throw our arms around Charley and support her through this.”

Richmond will name a replacement player to its AFLW list for Ryan, who will be made inactive for the 2025 season while she recovers from knee surgery.
