Tim Taranto’s immense value to the Richmond side was further highlighted in Saturday night’s match against West Coast at Optus Stadium.

The star midfielder racked up plenty of disposals as per usual, but he also hit the scoreboard hard.

He kicked an equal game-high three goals among his 30 disposals, along with 13 contested possessions, five marks, three inside-50s, seven clearances, an equal game-high nine score involvements, four tackles and 425 metres gained.

It was the fourth time this season that Taranto has scored multiple goals in a match. And it was the second time in his playing career at Tigerland that he’s recorded the elite statistical numbers of 30-plus disposals and three-plus goals.

Taranto previously had 33 disposals and booted four goals against Port Adelaide at the MCG in Round 11, 2023.

In that first season with Richmond, after transferring from Greater Western Sydney, Taranto kicked an AFL career-high 19 goals en route to winning the Jack Dyer Medal.

With five home-and-away rounds remaining this season, Taranto has 14 goals on the board, and he’s moved into third place on the Tigers’ goalkicking list behind Tom Lynch, 19 goals and Seth Campbell, 23 goals.

Averaging 26.1 disposals, 12.1 contested possessions, 3.2 marks, 5.5 clearances, 3.4 inside-50s, 4.6 score involvements, 4.9 tackles and 285.8 metres gained per match, a second Jack Dyer Medal is clearly in sight for Taranto.
