Tom Lynch showed why Richmond’s decision to re-sign him for the 2026 season is a sound one, with a strong showing in the Round 23 match against North Melbourne at Hobart’s Ninja Stadium.

Fresh off his contract extension with the Tigers, Lynch produced his best performance since winning the Jack Dyer Medal in 2022, after kicking 63 goals that season.

The 32-year-old veteran of 235 AFL games finished the match with 13 disposals, 12 contested possessions, a team-high seven marks with six of them contested, which was a game high, equal team-high three goals (3.4), seven score involvements, three tackles and 239 metres gained.

It was the most contested marks he’s had in a match since Round 22 of the 2022 season, when he kicked eight goals against Hawthorn at the MCG.

Lynch conceivably could have kicked five or six goals against the Kangaroos, as he missed some gettable set shots.

Most importantly, however, he looked fit and dangerous.

That augurs well for his, and the team’s, prospects in 2026.
