Sam Banks finished his much-improved season in fine fashion with a top performance for Richmond against Geelong in last Saturday’s final home-and-away round match at the MCG.

The rising rebounding defender had an AFL-career and team-high 30 disposals, an equal career-high and equal game-high nine rebound-50s, six score involvements, a team-high 590 metres gained and took a career-high and equal game-high 10 marks.

Banks was one of the main positives for the Tigers in season 2025.

His average disposals per match rose from 12.0 in 2024 to 21.2 this season. He also took his metres gained average from 227.7 last year to 412.7.

Among the Richmond playing list for the entire season, Banks was ranked No. 1 for metres gained, No. 2 for kicks, No. 2 for uncontested possessions, No. 2 for effective disposals, No. 3 for rebound-50s and No. 3 for total disposals.

Banks, 22, was recruited by the Tigers from Tasmania with their fourth pick (No. 29 overall) in the 2021 AFL national draft. He has now played 43 senior games with the Club.
