Richmond VFL defender Mutaz El Nour has revealed the joy the group is feeling ahead of Saturday's Elimination Final against the Lions at Brighton Homes Arena.

The Tigers, led by coach Jake Batchelor, finally overcame the Wildcard Final hump that had stumped them over the past two seasons, defeating GWS last weekend.

But the squad has quickly moved on, with full focus on a challenge to beat Brisbane away from home.

"We're excited for the challenge we've got this weekend, but we are very ready for it," El Nour told Richmond Media ahead of Saturday afternoon's game.

"It's an unreal experience that we get to have.

"The past two years, we made the Wildcard, but we didn't get through that, so it's pretty exciting for all of the boys here, especially the VFL listed (players) that we train with two days a week.

"The vibes are massive at the moment and everyone's enjoying their time."

The group has come together during the week to run through the expectations of Saturday's match, ready to head up to Brisbane the day before to allow ample preparation time.

"We always try and put that (game) behind us. It's something that we don't want to worry about too much. We've made it through to this stage now, so our eyes are just on the Lions," El Nour said.

"Going back and reviewing the game from the weekend and knowing that we can actually achieve and do better against the Lions."

But it's hard to deny the young VFL group is really trying to take in and enjoy their chance to travel, especially for a final.

And they've beaten Brisbane before, as earlier in the home-and-away season, Richmond overcame the Lions by 22 points at home.

"Every single time we travel with the VFL team, it's always very exciting. A lot of the boys don't get to travel as much," El Nour said.

"Getting to do it with a bunch of boys you're with the whole pre-season and throughout the year is awesome, with your best mates."

Richmond takes on Brisbane at Brighton Homes Arena on Saturday from 12.05pm (AEST) in the VFL Elimination Final. The game will be live streamed on the AFL website and app.
