Veteran Richmond forward Tom Lynch has praised the Tigers’ crop of rising key forwards, highlighting the strengths of Jonty Faull, Tom Sims and Harry Armstrong.
Speaking on Konversations with Konrad earlier this year, Lynch highlighted that all three players were impressive athletes, before dialling in on their specific strengths.
“Jonty’s a real competitor. Jonty’s competitiveness really stands out,” Lynch said.
“Simsy’s got an amazing vertical leap, and he times the ball at the highest point so well…it’s pretty impressive.
“Harry just works hard. He leads hard at the footy, has a beautiful kick for goal and has beautiful hands.”
The trio, who were all recruited to Richmond in last year’s draft, are set to play an important role in the Tigers’ future after positive debut campaigns.
Faull featured in 16 consecutive games after his AFL debut in Gather Round, overcoming a limited pre-season due to a back stress injury. His season ended due to a knee injury suffered in the Round 21 game against Gold Coast.
Faull booted 9.18 and averaged 2.75 marks per game, including 15 contested marks, which ranked the teenager #4 at Richmond.
Sims played 11 games after debuting in the Round 10 win over West Coast, where he booted a goal. He would add majors in a further three games, while displaying his athletic attributes in both the attacking area of the ground and in the ruck.
Armstrong was limited to eight games due to a hamstring setback but showed plenty of promise in those matches.
He kicked two goals on two different occasions, including a standout effort against the reigning premier Brisbane Lions in Round 4. The hard-running forward is poised to keep growing into 2026 and beyond.
