Tasmania’s reputation as a strong breeding ground for Richmond players was further enhanced in the 2025 Jack Dyer Medal count.

Four players from Tasmania finished in the top 12 of the Tigers’ Best and Fairest. Captain Toby Nankervis (George Town/North Launceston) and Seth Campbell (Burnie/North Launceston) were equal fifth, Sam Banks (Whitefoord/Clarence) was seventh, while Rhyan Mansell (Launceston/North Launceston) was 12th.

The only other time throughout Richmond’s history that four Tasmanians occupied places in the top 12 of the Club’s Best and Fairest was in 1997.

That year, Michael Gale (Penguin) finished fourth, his brother Brendon Gale (Burnie) was fifth, Matthew Richardson (Devonport) came in seventh, with Chris Bond (Wynyard/North Hobart) in equal-10th place.

Former star key forward Jack Riewoldt was the last Tasmanian to win the Tigers’ Best and Fairest.

Riewoldt took out the Jack Dyer Medal in 2018, having previously won it in 2010.
