Mutaz El Nour

Richmond defender Mutaz El Nour has been selected in the Smithy's VFL State Team squad of 43 players that will play off against the SANFL in Gather Round.

The 2026 vice-captain, who joined the Richmond leadership group this season, took home the 2025 Guinane Medal as a joint VFL Best and Fairest winner, and has started hot this year.

The key big man has enjoyed a strong start to his 2026 campaign, collecting 16 and 17 disposals respectively across Rounds 1 and 2. He has already laid 13 tackles across just two matches this year.

El Nour enjoyed a successful season last year, and continues to establish himself as a key pillar in the side's defence, in his fourth year at Richmond, and sixth at VFL level.

Last year, the 24-year-old represented the VFL in the AAMI State Game against the SANFL's West End State Team.

The final team will be announced in the coming days, ahead of the match, which is scheduled for Saturday 11 April in Glenelg.
