Richmond coach Adem Yze sees Saturday's clash against West Coast as "another step" in the development of the Tigers' youngsters, as the search for four points continues.
Although leader Tim Taranto and young star Sam Lalor missed the trip to WA to face the Eagles, the senior coach is confident the selected squad will step up and seize their opportunities away from home.
"The boys are ready. We sent 23 fit players over. They're on a mission. They want to win," Yze said on Friday.
"They are ready to perform, and do our jumper proud, and do our fans proud."
It also means 2025 draftees Sam Cumming and Sam Grlj, alongside new recruit Patrick Retschko, will get extra opportunities on Optus Stadium, a ground the Tigers feel confident playing on.
"Through all of this, there is always silver lining, with players getting opportunity. You will see that with Patty Retschko getting another game, Tommy Burton came in last week for his first game, Sammy Cumming getting that midfield exposure, and that will go up a little bit more this weekend," Yze said.
"We get another opportunity for the young boys, who may not have played an interstate game in front of a hostile environment. It's the next step in their careers.
"We like playing at this venue. Against Fremantle [in Round 3], we were really competitive for two and a half quarters. The boys like playing here, it's a great venue."
Yze added performing for the full four-quarters is a key focus against the Eagles.
"There's pressure throughout the whole season, whether you're winning or losing. Right now, our boys are really eager to put on a four-quarter performance," he said.
"Our players need time. We're trying to fast-track the development of our players, and we need them to belong on an AFL field as quick as they can."
Richmond takes on West Coast at Optus Stadium on Saturday from 4.15pm (AEST).
