Adem Yze

From the opportunity for young players to build midfield minutes, to the improvement of Kane McAuliffe and resetting after the Round 8 win, Richmond coach Adem Yze discusses what lies ahead against the Crows this Sunday.

On moving forward after the win over West Coast...

"It was business as usual when we got back. We needed to review the game really honestly, which we did. The boys have got some learnings from it," Yze said.

"It's just consistency. It was really clear what we needed to improve on. We weren't looking at highlights all week. We reviewed the like we would have if we had lost the game. We got some clear learnings, where we need to improve.

"We saw a nice spike in the way we've been moving the ball, which we've been working on really hard with our coaches and our players.

"It's never as good as it seems and it's never as bad as it seems. We've been preaching that. After a win, we've got to be really measured, take what we can out of the game, and it's a real consistent approach to the week."

On young players getting more opportunity through the midfield, with support from Dion Prestia...

"The support he [Dion Prestia] gave our players on the bench over the weekend, what he's been doing this week and what he will do, he will still impart his knowledge, he'll just do it in a different way," Yze said.

"We're dealing with a bit, but every time, it will give opportunity. Sam Cumming got some more opportunity inside [midfield] when Dion went off the ground, Kane McAuliffe changed his role from a wing to midfield and played his best game for our footy Club.

"Through this adversity, it's allowing some opportunity for some of our younger players."

On Kane McAuliffe's improvement on the wing and in the middle...

"We know what he can do inside [the midfield]. He's a terrific guy and he works so hard on his game, and is an amazing teammate," Yze said.

"Whether he plays on the wing or inside, he's so diligent in whatever we ask of him. It was awesome for him to get that reward, because he's been putting in so much effort, in a new role as a winger.

"It's the reward for the effort he's been putting in."
