Richmond will not match the offer made by the Gold Coast SUNS to Free Agent, Brandon Ellis.

As compensation, the Club receives a second round selection, which falls after Richmond’s current second round selection, (no.39 overall) in the 2019 National AFL Draft.

Ellis, 26, is now free to join the SUNS and departs Richmond after eight years, 176 AFL games, two premierships and Life Membership.

Richmond List Manager, Blair Hartley praised the departing defender.

"Brandon should be incredibly proud of the eight-year career he has had with Richmond,” Hartley said.

“He leaves the Club as a dual premiership player – an achievement that he worked incredibly hard for, and we thank him for the part he played in the Club’s on-field success.

“We also acknowledge the way Brandon conducted himself this season, he and his manager Marty Pask were in constant communication with the Club throughout the 2019 season.

"Brandon will always be a Richmond man, and we wish him and his family all the very best for the future.”

Richmond currently holds selections 19, 38, 39, 40, 72, 74, 92 in the 2019 National AFL Draft.
