Richmond is pleased to announce the appointment of Harmit Singh as the Head of Richmond Academy.
As part of his role, Singh will lead the Tigers’ Next Generation Academy and father-son, father-daughter talent, helping identify and develop players across Club's AFL, AFLW and VFL programs.
Singh comes to Richmond having completed similar roles with Collingwood (2008-2017 and 2022-2024), Essendon (2017-2022) and most recently Sydney (2025-2026) with great success. Singh also holds a Level 3 High Performance AFL Coach qualification.
“We are delighted to welcome Harmit to the Club in what is an exciting period for the Richmond Academy,” Director of Richmond Academy, Damien Villarosa, said.
“We are leaving no stone unturned in our attempts to develop future stars for Richmond’s football programs. Harmit brings a wealth of expertise to the Tigers and will help enhance the programs, structures and outcomes of the Richmond Academy."
“I am so excited to join Richmond and hit the ground running with the Academy,” Singh said.
“I have always admired the Richmond Football Club and I look forward to helping the Academy grow.”
Richmond’s re-structured pathway program, the Richmond Academy, has amalgamated its Next Generation Academy (NGA) programming with its father-son, father-daughter pathways.
The streamlined program will provide the highest quality player development in the AFL.
Earlier this year, it was revealed Richmond will have access to metropolitan talent under revamped zones for the NGA program.
The Tigers’ updated NGA zone now includes a new Melbourne metropolitan region which stretches from Chadstone to Selby. This complements the current regional zones, which spans across Castlemaine to Mildura.
Richmond’s full NGA zone map is below.
