Richmond defender James Trezise has given an honest review of the Club's 25-point loss at the hands of North Melbourne on Sunday.
After a strong first half that had the Tigers trailing by just eight points at the main break, the Kangaroos went on to kick six goals to Richmond's three in the second half.
After finishing with 20 disposals and taking six marks, Trezise was clear on where his side fell short.
"We were over-handballing at times. They were in front a lot in [our] defence, so we couldn't just get out the back," Trezise said post-match.
"I don't think we really took our chances, and we need to kick a bit straighter. Things happen, and we have to move on to next week."
Richmond again struggled to get going after halftime, which cost them three goals to nothing in the third quarter.
"It was a bit like last week [against Brisbane] in the third quarter. They [North Melbourne] got a bit of momentum for about five, 10 minutes where they kicked a few goals. It was hard to get back," he said.
But an improvement in the final term, despite the lack of scoreboard pressure, was a positive.
"I thought the boys fought really well in the last quarter to not let that [North Melbourne run] turn into 15 or 20 minutes.
One upside of the loss was the impressive output from fellow back men Sam Banks and Tom Brown, who have continued to find their form since their recent return to the side post injuries.
"They've been huge. Their run-and-carry and their foot skills are elite. It's something we've missed off the half-back line," Trezise said.
"Their ability to find a target, get out and kick start our offence [is impressive]. They've been really good and elite."
All eyes now turn to Saturday at the MCG against Collingwood, who defeated Port Adelaide after a strong third term in Round 15.
For the Tigers, it's a quick turnaround and a time to regroup to hopefully deliver a four-quarter effort.
"We just need to review that third quarter, particularly the first five or 10 minutes and see what went wrong. We need to have a discussion on what we can do to fix it," Trezise said.
Richmond take on the Pies at the MCG this Saturday from 4.15pm (AEST).
