Sam Lalor

Richmond coach Adem Yze has provided an update on the return of talented youngster Sam Lalor.

The 19-year-old hasn’t played since Round 7 due to a partial tear to his Achilles, but speaking on Friday, Yze revealed Lalor’s return is in sight.

“I put a smile on my face because he'll get through training this week and we're hoping that if he gets through next week, he might play managed minutes the following week against the Hawks,” Yze said.

“It's getting closer, but at the same time, you want to temper that because we won't take any risk if there's any sort of hiccup or any sort of pain.

“He's tracking along nicely...right now it's starting to get closer to him playing footy, which is exactly what we want.

“Our Tiger Army can't wait, our coaching staff can't wait for him to get out there, and he can't wait. Our teammates love playing with him, so that's getting closer, which is nice.”

Richmond plays Melbourne this Sunday at the MCG from 3:15pm.
