Old foes Richmond and Collingwood will square-off in the inaugural Robert Rose Foundation Victorian Wheelchair Football League (VWFL) Grand Final this Sunday, September 2 at Boroondara Sports Complex.

The match will start at 12:15pm, tickets are free, but fans must register online to secure their ticket.

The Tigers VWFL team will take on first-placed and undefeated Collingwood in the Grand Final.

Richmond VWFL skipper Matthew Morris said the Tigers will go in confident despite a couple of losses to Collingwood this season.

“It’s going to be a fantastic game. To their credit, Collingwood have beaten us twice this year,” said Morris.

“We have a few tricks up our sleeve that we’ve been working on to try a few different things.”

Collingwood captain, Brendan Stroud is hoping to keep their winning streak alive.

“Even sitting on top of the ladder, you still need to watch other teams coming for you, and all of the other teams have been getting better, and better and better,” Stroud said.

“Richmond finished second on the ladder and earnt their right to play us in the Grand Final and they’ve gotten stronger, and stronger, and stronger which is fantastic for us to step up again, and bring our A-game for the Grand Final.

“I hope it’s a really close game for everybody, especially the spectators.”

The VWFL exists to provide Victorians with a physical disability the opportunity to play Australian Rules football, at a competitive level. The league promotes fitness, fun and a sense of belonging.
