Shane Edwards continues to shine in his new role as a medium-sized forward in the Richmond line-up.

Edwards kicked a career-high four goals in the Tigers’ 70-point win against the Western Bulldogs at the MCG last Sunday, to take his season’s tally to 23, with 22 of those coming in the past 12 games, since his permanent move into attack.

He’s booted multiple goals on eight occasions and has smashed his previous best goal tally for a season of 12, which he scored in 2008.

Richmond coach Damien Hardwick has been suitably impressed with Edwards’ ability to reinvent himself as a forward . . . “He’s been very good,” Hardwick said.

“My first year here (2010), he had a very good year.  A little bit quieter last year, but he’s certainly bounced back.

“He’s one of those players that we’ve struggled to find a certain position for, but we’ve certainly found a role for him now.

“He can play a little bit through the midfield, but more predominantly up forward, and he’s such a dangerous character to play on. “He’s got elite agility, and his speed in getting the ball to foot is very good.

“If he can improve his composure inside 50, we’ve got no doubt he can become a regular 30-40 goalkicker for us on a yearly basis, which is really exciting.”
