Talented small defender Liam Baker has become just the third player in Richmond’s history to wear different guernsey numbers in Tiger premiership teams.

Baker wore No. 48 as a member of the Tigers’ 2019 premiership side, but was in No. 7 for the 2020 Grand Final triumph over Geelong after making the number change late last year.

The two other players to enjoy premiership success with Richmond in two different numbers are Baker’s current teammate Jason Castagna and Tigers’ Team of the Century member Merv Keane.

Castagna was in the No. 46 guernsey for Richmond’s drought-breaking 2017 premiership, but wore No. 11 when the Tigers trounced Greater Western Sydney in last year’s Grand Final.

Keane had No. 18 on his back when Richmond crushed Collingwood in the 1980 Grand Final, having previously worn No. 40 as a member of the Tigers’ back-to-back flag sides of 1973-74.
