Kayne Pettifer is Richmond’s next Homecoming Hero for the 2021 season.

The Tigers are set to pay tribute to Pettifer in the lead-up to Friday night’s big Round 8 clash with Geelong at the MCG.

Pettifer will walk to the Punt Road end of the ground to be greeted by the Tiger Army.

He’ll kick a ceremonial goal, then sign the football and present it to a Richmond fan in the crowd.

Highlights of Pettifer’s playing career with the Tigers also will be shown on the MCG’s big screens.

Kayne Pettifer was recruited by Richmond from Victorian country club Kyabram. He was the Club’s first pick (No. 9 overall) in the 2000 AFL national draft.

The talented forward made his senior debut with the Tigers in Round 12 of the 2001 season against Sydney at Marvel Stadium, but it wasn’t until 2005 that he established himself as a regular member of the line-up.

That season he played all 22 games and was Richmond’s third-highest goalkicker with 31 goals. He also was the Tigers’ number one-ranked player for inside-50 entries.

In 2006, Pettifer’s high-flying ability was highlighted when he had three consecutive nominations for the AFL’s Mark of the Year.
