    Tigers overrun by strong-finishing Saints

Richmond looked in control until St Kilda lifted gears late in Maddie's Match.

Richmond conceded 10 consecutive goals as St Kilda ran away to an 18.9 (117) to 13.6 (84) win at Marvel Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Tigers held a 25-point lead midway through the third quarter and appeared in control, but as co-captain Dylan Grimes was subbed out, the momentum swung quickly and completely the Saints' way.

    07:03

Key forward Max King was quiet early, held goalless through the first three quarters, but swung into action in the last to kick four for the term.

It looked like Richmond had plenty of players in form before everything turned, but Marlion Pickett was good again and the form of Thomson Dow will give Damien Hardwick something to add to a midfield that needs rejuvenation.

Former Crow Brad Crouch was everywhere with 28 disposals, nine tackles, 10 clearances and a goal.

Matt Parker, who was delisted by St Kilda at the end of 2020 and given a second AFL opportunity by the Tigers, haunted his former club with three goals in the first half.

    01:32

Shai Bolton and Noah Balta kicked three and two goals respectively, while Nathan Broad plucked 12 marks in defence and intercepted at will.

The Tigers had left the Saints shellshocked when they snared two goals within the opening 30 seconds via Liam Baker and Bolton, but the Saints quickly rallied and turned the first half into a shootout.

    01:06

Jack Higgins was substituted out with concussion after a first-quarter tackle from Ralphsmith, with Ben Long entering the game.

But Parker proved the difference in a dynamic first half, with his two instinctive snaps and another goal from a courageous mark inspiring a 13-point half-time lead.

    00:21

When Hugo Ralphsmith intercepted and kicked a beautiful long-range goal to extend Richmond's lead past four goals in the third, St Kilda looked in trouble.

Instead, they booted the next 10 goals.
