Richmond coach Damien Hardwick is remaining upbeat about the Tigers in the wake of yesterday’s disappointing fade-out against St Kilda at Marvel Stadium.

After leading by 25 points midway through the third quarter, Richmond was totally over-run by the Saints, who piled on 10 consecutive goals and ran out 33-point winners.

Hardwick, however, was keen to take a positive attitude to the Tigers’ overall performance in the match.

“It is frustrating, but for three quarters it was pretty bloody good,” Hardwick said in his post-game press conference.

“The disappointment of the last quarter will probably be the over-riding thing that will come out of the game, but for three quarters we were very competitive against a pretty good side.

“We’ve got some things that we can work on, but there’s certainly some things that we did pretty well today as well . . .

“The competition’s very even . . . When you have a bit of an off quarter, like we did tonight, it certainly can hurt you on the scoreboard going the other way.”
