Richmond defender Bachar Houli will remain a Tiger until at least the end of the 2014 season, after signing a two-year contract extension with the Club.

Houli has been one of the Tigers’ most consistent performers since crossing from Essendon in the 2010 AFL pre-season draft.

“We identified Bachar as a player who could add significant value to our team, and we’re thrilled he has decided to extend his time at the Club,” said Richmond’s General Manager of Football, Craig Cameron.

“He is one of our hardest-working players, and has been rewarded with his success so far at the Club.

“He is a fantastic leader around the place and a role model in the community.”

After managing just 26 games in four years at Essendon, Houli played every game for Richmond in 2011, averaging 22 disposals and kicking five goals in his role as a rebounding defender.

He finished in the top 10 for the Tigers in kicks, marks, handballs, inside-50s and rebound-50s, and capped his debut season at the Club by finishing fourth in the Jack Dyer Medal.
