Richmond defender Luke Trainor has been handed a one-match suspension for striking Eagle Jack Williams during Sunday's Round 21 match.

Trainor was cited by the MRO for the incident that occurred during the second quarter of the MCG clash.

The striking incident on Williams has been graded as intentional conduct, medium impact and body contact.

It has resulted in a one-match suspension, with no early plea available.

Richmond heads to the Adelaide Oval to take on the Crows this Saturday night.
