Richmond VFL coach Steve Morris provides a summary of how the Tigers’ players performed in Sunday's loss to Werribee at the Swinburne Centre.

Sam Banks (24 disposals, five marks, five rebound-50s, one goal)

"He's been fantastic for the best part of two months now. He's putting a fantastic block of footy together and he'll be ready when the opportunity presents at AFL level."

Tom Brown (22 disposals, eight rebound-50s, two marks)

"A really pleasing effort from him on the back off his first game back from injury last week. It was clear that he wanted the footy in his hands and I thought he was pretty solid defensively as well."

Tyler Sonsie (21 disposals, five tackles, three clearances)

"Some really good defensive efforts from him which was pleasing to see. As a whole, our midfield group got beaten on the day, but he didn't stop trying."

Lachie Street (21 disposals, 13 contested possessions, seven clearances one goal)

"He led our team for clearances with seven on the day, and kicked a really important captain's goal. There's some things we'll be working on this week from a defensive stand point, but another solid game from him."

00:36

Austin Johnson (18 disposals, seven marks, five tackles)

"Had a reasonable game. Played some midfield time as well as some time up forward which is new for him and it was a good opportunity to expose him to some different roles."

Brad Melville (17 disposals, four marks, four inside-50s)

"Probably didn't have the impact that we've come to expect of Brad. He played a slightly different role on the wing on the weekend, but he also could have finished with a couple of goals had we shaped the ball better."

Tom Brindley (15 disposals, eight marks, two inside-50s)

"Played a little less game time on the weekend but was equally effective in the air. He was fantastic aerially with four contested marks and really stood out on the ground. He's a player that we'll probably look to play down back in the coming week as well."

James Trezise (14 disposals, seven marks, four tackles)

"Had another good game. In the contest he was good, but aerially was where he really stood out. He took some really good intercept marks and kick-started some good offensive chains for us."

09:02

Misilifi Faimalo (12 disposals, five marks, two tackles)

"He played on the wing for a full game for the first time. He did some really exciting things, but we just need him to maintain a bit of composure when he has the ball in his hands."

Thomson Dow (12 disposals, four marks, four tackles)

"He was probably a bit of a victim of the fact he's played very little footy over the past month. We've got really great confidence in him that he will bounce back this week against Sandringham."

Angus Hicks (11 disposals, five tackles, one goal)

"I thought he got himself to some pretty good spots on the day but had a few uncharacteristic errors which cost him from having a super impact on the game."

Ben Miller (10 disposals, nine hit-outs, three marks)

"He was by far the standout player on the ground in the first half from a keys points of view. He went back in the second half to try and steady the ship but didn't have the impact we would like from him."

Mutaz El Nour (10 disposals, four marks, three rebound-50s)

"I thought he had a down day. He's had a fantastic season so far, but just had a few uncharacteristic errors on the day, defensively and with the ball in hand. He'll be looking to tidy up this week."

Matt Coulthard (nine disposals, three inside-50s, one mark)

"Obviously very new to our program and still working through the way that we play. No doubt he'll be better for the run in Richmond colours once again. He's an exciting player for us."

Kaelan Bradtke (nine disposals, three marks, one goal)

"Took a couple of contested marks and hit the scoreboard with one goal, but we're probably looking for him to have a bigger influence on aerial contests that he's not able to win, and follow up at ground level."

Bigoa Nyuon (nine disposals, 15 hit-outs, four tackles)

"Played both in the ruck and up forward and just wasn't able to generate the opportunities that he did the week before."

Steely Green (nine disposals, four marks)

"Once again got to some really good areas and was able to generate three shots on goal and put significant pressure on the opposition. But he just didn't have that impact on the game that we would have liked him to have."

Harry Broderick (nine disposals, four rebound-50s, two marks)

"Really pleased for Harry to get his first game in Richmond colours and a really special day for the Broderick family. One thing that definitely stood out was his ball use across half-back, he had a red-hot crack and he'll get better as the year goes on."

Mykelti Lefau (eight disposals, six hit-outs, five tackles)

"Whilst he didn't accumulate much of the footy, he had a real influence on the game and was a real presence for us. He had five tackles and four of them led to holding the ball free kicks. We love what he's bringing to our team."

Joel Nathan (six disposals, one clearance, one rebound-50)

"Joel spent a few weeks out and played a different role this week playing down back. I thought his starting points were slightly off but you can never question his desperation, which was highlighted by about an 80m sprint to save a goal on the line in the second quarter."

Maurice Rioli (six disposals, four tackles, two inside-50s)

"Whilst his numbers weren't high, you could see that he was switched on to have an impact on the game, right from the outset. His chase pressure was really evident."

Max Clohesy (four disposals, two rebound-50s)

"Tried his backside off on the day. He was very task-orientated and I think he can probably improve how he can fit into our system. I really like what we's brought to the Club over the last couple of months."

Jacob Bauer (two disposals, one mark)

"I was disappointed in Jacob's first-half from a defensive point of view, I just felt that he could have been tighter on his opponent and that would have given him more opportunities to impact the game."
