Richmond will look to make it two wins on the trot against the Kangaroos at the MCG this Sunday, with Adem Yze expecting a tough challenge from Alastair Clarkson's men.
“We are not in a position where we can take anyone lightly,” Yze told SEN.
“They have been in some really good form for three weeks, and they really pushed Essendon and Port Adelaide as well.
“We understand what’s coming, but we are really focusing in on having a consistent week at training and just trying to play our way.
“We have a young list that needs to learn to train hard, play hard, review the game really honestly and just get into a consistent pattern.”
Fresh off their two-point win against the Eagles, Yze expects to see a competitive brand of footy every week, and one the Tiger Army can be proud of.
“We just expect to be really competitive every week, and that’s not going to guarantee wins, but what it will do is guarantee a brand of footy that we are proud of and that our supporters are proud of every week,” Yze said.
“Obviously, with a young group, there is outside noise and expectations outside of our footy club, but we are going about our business each week.
“We expect to play a certain way, and if that brings a win every week, we’ll be proud of that, and we move on.”
After nine rounds into the season, the Club has seen seven debutants don the yellow and black jumper in Sam Lalor, Luke Trainor, Harry Armstrong, Liam Fawcett, Jonty Faull, Campbell Gray and most recently Tom Sims.
With more of this year’s draft crop still yet to make their debut, Yze said that selection has been more competitive than ever.
“I’ve said this to our younger boys that we need selection integrity and they need to earn the right to play,” Yze said.
