Coach Adem Yze joined the Talking Tigers crew on Tuesday night, during the special live edition of the show.

Yze provided an update on several players during his interview, as Richmond prepares to battle Collingwood on Sunday at the MCG.

Jonty Faull and his impactful debut season

“How can’t you love him,” Yze said.

“He just wants to get better every day. He wants to fight people at training, and that’s just the type of kid he is.”

Tylar Young since returning from injury

“Since he did his knee, he has come back a different player,” Yze said.

“He has worked so hard on his body, and we noticed it at training, where there were a few sessions where he was chasing little forwards out of the back 50 and I didn’t realise it was him.

“He is so fast, and obviously he is a big boy, and we are blessed with a lot of height.”

Harry Armstrong and Kane McAuliffe returning through the VFL

"We organised a practice game with St Kilda. It was only 15 a side, but they got some minutes in,” Yze said.

“He (Armstrong) and Kane McAuliffe got through that, and they will play VFL footy this week.”

Taj Hotton across his first two AFL games

“We have to manage his body for the next few weeks,” Yze said.

“It’s obviously a big step-up playing AFL footy, but the most pleasing thing is that he is such a talented kid and wants the ball in his hands.

“At half time (v West Coast), I think he only had three or four possessions, but he stayed really clear and stayed engaged, so for him to have 12 or 13 possessions in the second half really showed the talent that he has got.

“He will have some bumps along the road, but you can see the talent that he has got and the more that he has the ball in his hands, the better for us.”

Sam Banks and the emerging leaders

“He is a part of that group where that big spike in our growth is going to come from,” Yze said.

“That middle tier, like Tyler Sonsie, Rhyan Mansell, Banksy, Tom Brown, the guys who feel like they belong on an AFL footy field right now, it’s going to be their footy Club.

“The quicker we can get them to become leaders of our footy Club...Banksy is one of those. He is so consistent, we love the ball in his hands, and he sets up our good ball movement, which is nice.”

Yze on the importance of the leaders and midfield group

“Going into the season, we knew if we had all of our midfield group fit and available, I knew we would be competitive,” Yze said.

“It’s the engine room, it’s where the game starts, and if you have a good midfield and a competitive midfield, you are going to be competitive every week.”

Josh Smillie's progress

“He will hopefully get a full training this week and next week,” Yze said.

“We have a really clear plan, and we want him to get through two big weeks of training before he plays.

“Hopefully in a couple of weeks he will play some footy, and he would be a guy that I would love to give some exposure to before the season finishes so he can go to the off-season knowing what AFL footy is about.

“I feel for him, but he is working really hard.”
