A strong showing from Tim Taranto in Monday night's Brownlow Medal count saw him lead the way for Richmond, polling 20 votes.

It was a clean sweep of votes from Richmond's outstanding Round 1 win over old rival Carlton, with Taranto (3), Toby Nankervis (2) and Nick Vlastuin (1) all polling.

Taranto was a force during the memorable night at the MCG, recording 30 disposals and eight clearances, Nankervis was huge with 35 hitouts, 21 disposals and seven clearances, while Vlastuin's All-Australian Squad making season begun with 21 disposals, 521 metres gained and 11 intercepts.

Taranto would add another vote in the Round 4 loss to Brisbane, where he had 29 disposals and eight score involvements.

Vlastuin's immense defensive performance from the Round 6 upset victory over Gold Coast was recognised with a full three votes. In one of the best games of his career, Vlastuin took 15 intercepts under the roof at Marvel, while also amassing 27 disposals and 661 metres gained.

Taranto's impressive Brownlow night continued with two votes in that Suns win, thanks to his season-high 35 disposals.

The Tigers' prime midfielder added another three votes in the thrilling Round 9 win over West Coast, a day where Taranto had 27 disposals, 16 contested possessions, seven clearances and a goal.

Sam Banks and Jacob Hopper both polled their first votes of the Brownlow in the Eagles game, with Banks (28 disposals, 660 metres gained) getting two votes and Hopper (24 disposals, 15 contested possessions) one.

It was back-to-back three-vote performances for Taranto, as the Richmond star was rewarded for his 30-disposal, 10-clearance effort in Round 10 against North Melbourne.

Taranto would add a further two votes in the Round 12 clash with GWS, where he had 23 disposals, while Hopper polled one vote from that game, as he recorded 29 disposals, 17 contested possessions, 13 clearances and seven centre clearances.

A best on ground performance from Taranto in the Round 18 win over Essendon saw him accumulate three votes, as he led the way with 34 disposals.

Taranto moved into the top five on the overall leaderboard after Round 19, where he polled another three votes for his 30 disposals, nine score involvements and seven clearances in the win over the Eagles.

Hopper polled votes in consecutive games, collecting two votes in the West Coast clash and one vote a week later in a brave battle with Collingwood at the MCG.
