Sierra Grieves has won the Best First Year Player Award at Richmond’s Best and Fairest awards night on Tuesday night.

The 18-year-old was selected by Richmond with the Club’s first pick and 11th overall pick in the 2024 AFLW draft.

Grieves didn’t have to wait long to get her opportunity at the elite level, bursting onto the scene in Round 3 to make her AFLW Debut against the Bombers in the annual Dreamtime in Darwin clash.

The inside midfield shone in her first hit out, recording 18 disposals, four marks, four disposals and five score involvements.

Upon entering the Swinburne Centre, Grieves brought with her a distinguished junior career, having represented the Western Jets and captained Vic Metro, where she also won the U18 Championships’ Best and Fairest Award.

It didn’t take long for the talented young prospect to hit the ground running as she earned the respect through her elite work ethic and team-first mentality.

Across nine games this season, Grieves averaged 13 disposals, three marks, three tackles, and 156 meters gained.

Despite being a key contributor to the side’s midfield, Grieves also showed her strengths as a small forward by constantly setting up her teammates in front of goal whilst booting two of her own from across the season.

Grieves will look to grow from an impressive debut campaign in 2026.
