Sam Lalor

Richmond leaders Toby Nankervis and Tom Lynch are ready for the next generation of Tigers to make their mark at the Club, with expectations high for the second-year players to go to a new level in 2026.

All eyes are naturally on Sam Lalor, who has been given the iconic No.4 guernsey.

While it may be hard to contain the excitement, Lynch believes the 19-year-old is ready to take on what lies ahead, and flourish while he's at it.

"Sammy hit me up a couple of times last year. He kicks the footy beautifully," Lynch said on Channel 7.

"Putting No.4 on is really appropriate and it's really exciting for the Richmond Football Club."

A reserved Nankervis, however, is keen to temper expectations on Lalor, who played 11 games in his debut season.

"It's unfair to compare him to Dustin [Martin] this early. I've read all that and heard it," Nankervis said.

"Sam's going to be his own player, and a bloody good player at that."

Richmond fans will get their first chance to watch football against opposition this week, with Match Simulation scheduled at the NEC Hangar against Essendon this Friday from 10.30am (AEDT).
