An AFL career-best season by Jack Ross in 2025 saw him elevated to Richmond’s playing leadership group, and he responded with a strong performance in the Tigers’ Round 1 match against Carlton at the MCG.
The 25-year-old, in his 94th appearance at the game’s highest level, had 23 disposals, nine contested possessions, four clearances, three inside-50s, four marks, five score involvements, six intercepts, a match-high seven tackles and 283 metres gained in his midfield role.
Richmond coach Adem Yze paid tribute to Ross during his post-game press conference.
“He’s a leader of our footy club for a reason,” Yze said.
“Our players love him, our coaches love him, I hope our fans love him because he just works so hard on his game.
“He drives standards within our four walls and now he’s reaping rewards on the AFL field.
“He’s a pure inside mid and he’s leading the way in there with Tim (Taranto).
“So, he’s started the season off nicely like he did last year.”
