Tom Lynch

Tom Lynch was a strong forward presence for Richmond in last Thursday night’s Round 1 match against Carlton at the MCG.

Lynch was moving as well as he has for several seasons, posing big problems throughout for the Blues backmen with his strong marking and presence up forward.

And the only time that Lynch has registered more scoring shots in a match throughout his illustrious 237-game AFL career was in Round 7 of the 2022 season when he kicked 7.5 against West Coast at Optus Stadium.

Lynch also had nine scoring shots on one other occasion versus Carlton – in Round 2, 2018, booting 8.1 at Marvel Stadium while playing for Gold Coast.

The 33-year-old has kicked 236 goals in 106 games for the Tigers, with a best match return of eight (8.0) against Hawthorn in Round 22, 2022 at the MCG.

He won his second Michael Roach Medal that season (2019 was his first one), as the Club’s leading goalkicker (63 goals in total) and also took out the Jack Dyer Medal.

The following two years, Lynch played only eight games all-up because of injury, but he scored 26 goals from 16 games last season in a sign that he still had plenty to offer the Richmond side.

His Round 1 display this season was further proof of his value to the Tigers.
