Despite both sustaining injuries in Round 2, coach Adem Yze has confirmed premiership stars Toby Nankervis and Tom Lynch’s leadership presence will still be felt throughout the Club during their recovery.
Only this time it won’t be by their on-field actions, but by assisting the coaches from the sidelines.
“Lynchy's (hamstring injury) is a little bit on the minor end, so we'll be really cautious with that, and we'll look after him because of his age,” Yze said.
“But he's just a standard hammy, and obviously Nank’s is a little bit longer, but they're ok.
“They're leaders of our footy club, and it's not just what they do on the field, it's what they do off the field as well.
“Their input around the Club for the next month will be really important for our younger players."
With Lynch's return timeline at 4-5 weeks and Nankervis' at 6-8 weeks, the pair will make an impact in a leadership and guidance perspective.
“At some stage they'll be obviously helping in the (coaches) box, and their input on game day will be pretty important for us,” Yze said.
Richmond travels to Perth to face an in-form Fremantle outfit this Saturday, a challenge Yze said his Tigers are excited for.
“Our boys are excited. When you get a chance to play against a team that's in really good form, and we'll have a young team, it's exciting,” Yze said.
“You get on the road as a group and get a chance to connect over there. Our boys will head over there and test ourselves against one of the in-form teams in the comp.”
