Sam Cumming

Richmond draftee Sam Cumming will make his highly-anticipated return to competitive football via Richmond's VFL program this Sunday, after overcoming a pre-season shoulder setback.

He will join Jack Madgen's side in their Round 3 match against St Kilda at RSEA on Sunday.

Selected with pick seven in the 2025 AFL Draft, the 18-year-old played in Richmond's AFL practice matches against Essendon and Melbourne, but subsequently was injured against the Demons in Ballarat.

Cumming made an immediate impact in South Australian football circles, including winning the SANFL U/18 MVP award as a bottom-aged player last year.

He averaged 17 disposals and a goal as part of South Australia’s National Championships winning team in 2025 and earned All-Australian selection.

The midfielder has now completed a four-week shoulder strengthening program, and will integrate via the VFL this weekend.

Richmond take on St Kilda at RSEA Park this Sunday from 1.05pm (AEST). You can watch live via the AFL website.
