Noah Balta has urged his young teammates to continue to push for success, following Richmond's first win of the 2026 season in Round 8.

The 11-point victory over West Coast was a triumphant one, with six Tigers in the middle of the song, belting it out for the first time in their careers.

Balta, who stood tall in the win, said it's a feeling they should cherish, but take key learnings from, to carry it through the season.

"I think that this win brings up the spirit so much in the team," Balta said post-match.

"Those young guys, sometimes when you get a win, you can feel like, 'this is amazing', and when you get a loss, you feel like, 'this is the worst thing ever'.

"But, after a while they'll start to get that consistency. It's not about the wins and losses outcome, it's about process...that's what we judge our game on."

The key defender, who spent the afternoon in the ruck and up forward, kicked three goals, while also collecting 20 disposals and 18 contested possessions.

But Balta heaped all the praise on his fellow forwards, who helped wrestle the contest back in Richmond's favour, and handed the 26-year-old the confidence he needed to finish off their hard work.

"Ollie Hayes-Brown was incredible down there [as ruck], [Tom] Lynch was providing a contest. I felt like Jonty Faull was really good," he said.

"When you have boys like that around you, and it's your turn to go, it's not too hard, because they give you that much confidence."

And it was the three-quarter time address form coach Adem Yze and injured midfielder Dion Prestia that sparked Balta and his teammates to push through and collect the four points.

"Adem Yze said that we were going to have multiple chances to win the game. We started off [the final quarter] pretty good, then they [Eagles] started to come back and hit the lead," he said.

"I came to the bench and said, 'Ooze - multiple chances. One is gone, but the next one will be coming'.

"I think Dion Prestia was unbelievable on the bench, keeping everyone calm and collected. Every time four new people would run there, it would be a refreshment to the whole team."

Richmond now returns home to Melbourne, preparing to host Adelaide at the MCG this Sunday. For Balta, the win serves as a chance to learn, and implement those lessons, against a top side in front of the Tiger Army.

"I hope the boys get some clarity that playing your role actually turns out well," Balta said.

"There's positives and negatives in every game, even wins. We see this still as a learning opportunity. Even though it was a win, doesn't mean we can kick the feet up and relax.

"So we will learn that if we keep running our roles and playing my role, the outcome will come."
