How do the Tigers maintain the winning momentum?
Richmond recorded its first win last weekend with a gutsy victory against West Coast in Perth.
The young, undermanned Tigers showed tremendous fight, grit and spirit to secure the 11-point win, but coach Adem Yze has assured the review of the game didn't change despite the result, with Richmond focused on improving key areas on Sunday.
“Our review was really clear on what we needed to improve on,” Yze said.
“We weren't looking at highlights all week. We reviewed the game like we would if we had lost the game and we got some clear learnings on where we needed to improve.
“We just move on really quickly, we've got to do that, and our players know that.
“It's never as good as it seems and it's never as bad as it seems at times…we've been preaching that.
“After a win, we've got to be really measured, take what we can out of the game and it's a real consistent approach to the week.”
Can the Tigers win the contest?
One of the key elements in last week’s win was Richmond’s ferocity around the contested ball.
The Tigers amassed a massive 141 contested possessions against the Eagles. For context, Sydney leads the league in that statistical category with 138.9 per game.
Jack Ross led the way with 19 contested possessions, followed by Noah Balta’s 18, Jacob Hopper’s 12, Kane McAuliffe’s nine and eight each from Seth Campbell, Tom Lynch and Oliver Hayes-Brown.
The strong showing has caught the eye of the Crows, who will be on alert on Sunday.
“They present a big challenge for us…last week they really got their contest game up and going,” Adelaide coach Matthew Nicks said.
“They’re really bringing that intensity, and we’ll have to do the same if we’re going to come away with a win.”
Can Richmond attack the scoreboard again?
The Tigers scored 99 points last week, their highest tally of the campaign.
There were plenty of positives in attack, with three players kicking three goals each - Balta, Jonty Faull and Campbell.
Balta is finding plenty of success in his new forward/ruck role, and Yze said on Friday he intends to use the 26-year-old in the same way this week.
Faull was an imposing presence in the west, with his three majors a career-high in his young AFL journey. With Lynch back in the line-up, Faull has continued to grow in confidence and he'll be determined to back-up his strong performance.
Campbell is becoming one of Richmond's most damaging players, with his three goals adding to increased midfield exposure in recent weeks.
Adelaide has the capacity to put up points in a hurry, but the Tigers proved in Perth they have plenty of offensive weapons as well.
