Richmond veteran Maddie Shevlin knows the pressure is on to impress as the AFLW pre-season gets underway.
With a fresh set of eyes overseeing the program, headed up by coach Jarrad Donders, Shevlin is confident the side is prepared for a reset.
"It's always enticing when you've got new staff. Everyone's got to prove themselves again. That hunger in the playing group is evident," Shevlin said.
"Everyone's come back really fit, ready to crack in. We are looking strong."
And while Monday ticked off the official start to the pre-season, most of the playing group has spent the last few months preparing for this very week.
"We've been training since November, so to have a bit of structure, and get all 30 players on the list back here, we're pumped," Shevlin said.
Extra training has also given the playing group a chance to show their new coaches their fitness and hunger, ahead of practices matches, which begin in the coming months.
"It's bloody exciting. Going into the off-season, we weren't sure who was going to be here, but day one of pre-season, we have a new coach, a new general manager of football, a whole range of stuff. It's exciting and we're keen to get stuck into it," she said.
And the work to rebound from last year's disappointing finish is evident, with the playing group putting in the work, showing up and staying competitive.
"The ladder last year tells us we need to get better, and we need to get better quickly," Shevlin said.
"We're looking forward to learning a new game plan, and fast tracking that pretty quickly.
"[We've got] 13 weeks of pre-season. We've got a couple of practices matches at the back end of our pre-season block.
"It's pretty simple. The best ability is availability. So how do we recover really well and learn a game plan really quickly."
