Richmond will welcome in four key AFL players, alongside James Milner, to take on Collingwood in Saturday's VFL clash at La Trobe University.

Luke Trainor joins the VFL side after overcoming his hip soreness that has seen him miss the past two weeks of football. He is joined by Hugo Ralphsmith, who returns from suspension, Tyler Sonsie, Liam Fawcett and James Milner in the side.

AFL coach Adem Yze outlined Trainor's return-to-play in his press conference on Friday.

"He's turned the corner, so he'll play manage minutes in the VFL this weekend," Yze said.

"He's the type of guy that we need to get back in [to AFL], a highly talented, high draft pick, that we want to get as close to 50 games as we can really quickly."

The five ins replace Rhyan Mansell (AFL), Tom McKenzie (omitted), Sean Lai (omitted), Caleb Nancarrow (injured) and Mohammed Yassine (omitted).

The backline is made up of Nick Collier, Trainor, vice-captain Mutaz El Nour, Harry Scott, Leo Connolly and Kaleb Smith.

Aaron Sharkie makes up the centreline, alongside Kane McAuliffe and Ralphsmith. Oliver Hayes-Brown takes his spot in the ruck, with Sonsie and Milner his followers.

Tom Burton, Sam Philp, Zane Peucker, Samson Ryan, Fawcett and Noah Roberts-Thomson make up the forward line.

On the interchange is Zaydyn Lockwood, Liam George, Lachlan Street, Olli Hotton and Josh Pollocks.

The emergencies are McKenzie, Lai and Zach O'Keefe.

The Round 14 clash is set for 12:05pm (AEST) this Saturday, with the game to be shown live on the ABC, and live-streamed on the AFL website.
