Richmond's AFLW Physical Performance Manager, Hunter Rubino, has provided an update on the Tigers' progress ahead of the Club's official practice match against Fremantle in Perth on Saturday.
The Tigers will fly to WA on Friday, taking on the Dockers on Saturday at Good Grocer Park in Perth from 12.30pm (AEST), 10.30am (local time). The match will be live streamed on the Richmond website.
After two match simulations against North Melbourne and Melbourne, Richmond is ready for a fresh challenge, and the chance to take the new game plan interstate.
"We are really excited, from a high performance perspective, at how the group is presenting themselves in the lead up to our first travel of the year against Fremantle. A new group and a new system is an exciting test for us," Rubino said.
"The work around our high speed running and sprint has come to fruition over the last two games. We couldn't be happier with where the group is at."
Rubino provided an update on a handful of players working through modified training loads and programs.
Zoe Hargreaves: ACL and Hamstring
"Zoe is clear from a hamstring perspective. She is no longer being held back in that space," Rubino said.
"We are working through the final stages of her return-to-play regarding her ACL. We did her final testing a few weeks ago, and we are starting to build her football loads. She has put in a great body of work and is going really well."
Montana McKinnon: ACL
"Monty is in a similar position to Zoe from a return-to-play perspective," Rubino said.
"We had her final testing last week. We will clean up a few things and continue her on her path to football.
"She's starting to integrate into more team drills and working through her progressions. She's going incredibly well."
Paige Scott: Foot
"Scotty presented with some navicular stress. We decided to go down the operative route for them, given how early into pre-season it was," Rubino said.
"They are a couple of weeks post-surgery now. Scotty is going very well in terms of their progression. They are working through weight and non-weight bearing in the boot. We will look to get them running in a few weeks.
"We are looking at a Round 6 or 7 return-to-play timelines, with all things going well at the moment."
Katie Brennan, Sarah Hosking: Load management
"This week we will have Katie Brennan and Sarah Hosking on load management. Brennan has played the last two weeks in match simulation, while Hosking played against the Demons," Rubino said.
"It's exciting to see them both back out there. We've made the decision to load manage them against Fremantle, looking to bring them back into our final match simulation against Hawthorn."
Baia Pugh: Shin soreness, concussion
"Baia's shin's have healed and she is completely fine. She unfortunately suffered a concussion against North Melbourne in our first match simulation, so she missed against Melbourne," Rubino said.
"She's passed all of her concussion protocols and will be available for selection against the Dockers."
