Cultural Heritage
Born in England to a French mother and English father, Christophe’s story spans countries, cultures and communities. He spent his early childhood in England before moving to France at six, where he lived for the next two decades.
Sport wasn’t a defining part of his upbringing, aside from a little tennis in high school, but he still remembers glimpses of AFL his brother Marc would show him on the UK’s Channel 4.
Christophe returned to England in 2000 and, a year later, met his wife Suzanne, who grew up in Melbourne and came from a proud Tigers family. Their journey eventually brought them to Australia in 2008.
Christophe's Australian cultural knowledge spanned no further than that of INXS, Kylie Minogue and Crocodile Dundee - but that all changed when he was immersed in a family of Richmond supporters in Melbourne, Victoria.
Since being in Melbourne, Christophe has built strong relationships across cultures and communities, enriching his sense of belonging. At the heart of this belonging has been his connection to the Richmond Football Club, and the role it has played in spending valuable time with his friends and family.
One Richmond Connection
Christophe’s Richmond connection is rooted in family, belonging, and shared experience. He didn’t become a member because the team was winning, he became a member when he felt ready to commit, knowing the importance of showing up even when results don’t go your way.
Introduced to the Tigers through his wife’s family, the Eagers, Christophe began attending matches from time to time in 2010. His love for the game deepened when his friend Mark invited him into the MCC section, where he enjoyed the welcoming and relaxed environment.
Today, Christophe treasures the ritual of arriving early, watching the MCG slowly fill, and being present in the moment. As a Club XIII member, level 2 of the Ponsford Stand has become a second home, where regulars greet each other, friendships grow, and his children Camille & Emile (now 10 and 14) proudly follow the Tigers.
